I've got a Summer Job!
I asked the staff if I could help out and they assigned me the job of "The Cake Lady" where I order birthday cakes for the June/July birthday kids. They also asked me to make cards for them as well. It has been lots of fun so far.

This is the circle we found where we had dinner. We were tired of eating at fast foods so we drove way away from the FWY and came to this circle...as we started to go around we saw this restaurant (no picture) looked like where the locals ate, so we went in. Also there were tons of cars out front. We went in and waited to be seated (like good citizens), finally one of the weary waitresses hollered out in a raspy voice..."you can seat yourselves....smoking in front of the buffet and non-smoking behind the buffet." Alrighty then. So we headed to the Non-Smoking Section behind the buffet. The food was awesome, we both ate well... for about $12 total!!

I tried to get my grandson R.J. an official Cubs outfit, but we were too south in Illinois to find anything. Evidentally those folks are St. Louis fans.
MEETING BO AFTER 46 YEARS
When we arrived in Colorado on Father's Day, we spent the night with Jack's son Matt, his wife Vicki and daughter Carly and son Zach. They live in Evergreen, Colorado. We had a magnificent time BBQ'ing, visiting and sharing Father's day. Some wonderful stories were told and great memories were created. We are hoping to travel home via Colorado.
We met Bo and his wife Sandy for lunch at Digger's Diner in Brush, Colorado. Jack and Bo had not seen each other since graduation night from The Taft School in 1961. We are looking forward to seeing them again.

We're Here! Our 2007 trip to Connecticut began on June 16th
Hi gang! We arrived in Watertown, CT yesterday at 5:00 pm. Got our stuff out of the car and up into our room on the 4th floor! We used the elevator and got everything up here, then we heard later that it was broken. Can you say "over the weight limit"?? LOL
We had a terrific time going across the US...we went through Vegas (and we didn't even stop....aaaaaaaargggghh)up into Utah and stayed at Cedar City. Then we took off and headed to Evergreen, CO where Jack's son and family lives. We arrived there on Father's Day and had a fun time with them. Then we had lunch with a classmate of Jack's that he hadn't seen since graduation in 1961 from the Taft School. That was fun. We ended up in Lincoln, NE and then headed to Bloomington, IL where we stopped twice to meet some of Jack's ham buddies who purchased a few items from him. We spent the night there and headed to Clarion, PA which was the looooooooooooooongest day ever! Left Bloomington around 9:00AM and landed in Clarion about 9:30 at night. Not gonna do that again! Yesterday we left PA and arrived here. Phew what a drive. But we had such fun, laughing and talking and just enjoying each other. We didn't even turn on the radio because it was so nice. Once we put on Brad Paisley's new album and listened to one song while we sat in traffic. The weather was beautiful the whole way till we got in CT where we were following a dark cloud. But thankfully it didn't let loose until we were having dinner.
Gotta tell you a funny story. We were in Ohio and stopped for a potty break and found a little ice cream place. We had to try it out. Well they have an ice cream called "Buckeye" and I'm asking the gal, what is that? She said it is p'nut butter dipped in chocolate and added to vanilla with a chocolate swirl. Let me tell ya, it was D-licious. But I still didn't get the fact that we were in Ohio and I was eating Buckeye ice cream....get it? The Ohio Buckeyes??? duh me The name of the Ice Cream place is Handel's and they have one in Upland, CA on Mountain off the 10 fwy. Oh I'm going there alright when we get back!!!
We found out that the school will be again travelling to NYC and to Boston. This time the play they will be going to is "Tarzan". The kids start coming tomorrow and almost all of the faculty is here. We had a dinner with the faculty tonight and got to see everyone again and play catch up.
When we arrived yesterday and went to the office, we told them that we were glad to be back at our Summer Home in CT. They laughed and asked if we were happy with the way they had kept it up for us...LOL
I'm still looking for someone to "play" with since my friend didn't come back this year. I think I will contact the Long Island, NYC and CT Tall clubs and see if I can hook up with them.
Ok well time to get back to checking out the stamping website to get some ideas. I brought a lot of stamping stuff so I can make cards while I'm here.

We took Jack's car to the Toyota dealer so we can get an oil change and a 30,000 mile check up. We didn't leave anything behind which is amazing since we had so much going on before we left. My dad is doing good and is planning on going back to work on Monday. Just depends on what the dr says.
Don't know if I had sent out an email or not, but Jack's mom passed away on June 8th. She was 91. Since the east coast tends to do cremations, we will have a memorial service the Tuesday after we leave here, which will be in the town she lived in for so long. Then we head up to New Hampshire where there will be a family reunion and a memorial service will be held there as well. The family plot is there and that's where her headstone is, next to her husband and his family.
Anyway, just wanted to check in and say hi, we made it!

MY NEW YORK TRIP BUS TOUR
Well this was an adventure. I have posted the pictures in order of events. Difficult for a technologically challenged person (who is blonde as well). This bus tour was 5 1/2 hours long. It started at 3:00 and ended at 8:30.
Holly and I had done our homework and figured out which train station to drive tol, which train to take, where it would take us, what time we would get there, how to get onto the subway. (I felt like a rat down in the subway) and where to meet our bus. Lots of work before we even left town.
I'll have to say it was the best $60 I've spent to far. The bus was air conditioned and held just enough people to make it comfortable. The guide was awesome. He told us information we would never had known had we tried to see everything ourselves.
There is another tour bus group but it is a big red double decker and of course the top is open which is nice if its sunny out, but there was a BIG thunder/lightening/rain storm. They were handed white plastic poncho's with hoods and off they went. Oh did I mention the rails next to them were METAL???
So sit back and enjoy the pictures.
