We're Here!

Hi gang!
Well we've been busy. Settling into the new room which is way bigger than the dorm room. It has a kitchen, a full bath and a little bedroom (which we are using for a changing room) and a huge living room. That's were our 2 twin beds are. We have received our bikes and my computer. As soon as it is set up I can download pictures and send to you guys or else post them on the blog.
I have seemed to manage to get a sore throat which turned into laryngitis and now its settled into my chest. Dont know if its from my immune system being low or the change in weather or what.
Jack is teaching 2 classes, Algebra and Pre-Algebra and his classes are the first 2 in the morning. Which leaves him free the rest of the day to eat lunch, take naps, grade his papers and prepare for the next days classes.
He is also watching the soccer games. (surprise)
I am planning on going to see Mark Twains home which is near Hartford. We have become friends with another teacher and his wife. They have 2 kids who are taking classes here this summer. They are GREAT kids. The mom, Holly, works on Tues-Thursday and will come down on Friday's and stay till Monday. She has offered to take a day off from work on the 5th to take me to New York. I cant wait. We will take the car to the train station and head to Grand Central Station.
There are also mall trips during the week. I checked into getting a spa pedicure and about dropped my jaw when they said it was $32.00!!! I guess we are spoiled.
Today was supposed to be a fire drill, but there was actually an accident where the power company accidentally hit a natural gas line and they had the fire dept out here and closed the street down. Too much excitement.
As soon as I'm feeling better I plan to do more road trips. Yes, I'm planning to go to the Indian casino out here too. But I have to feel way better if I'm going to do that drive.
The days are long but we manage to fill up our time. And guess what? NO TV. Well except for Jack and his soccer.
Its pretty exciting to see these kids and realize how much of an affect they will have on this world. Imagine going to a boarding school when you are 14 and living in Hong Kong? This one little gal is from India but her family moved to Hong Kong when she was little. She goes to a German/Swiss private school and knows 4 languages.
Its pretty dang impressive. Some of the moms who are dropping their kids off talk to us and we assure them that we are here for the kids if they need anything. I think it helps the moms a lot knowing there are ladies here who will mother them in their absense if needed.
I cant believe its only Tuesday. It seems like we've been here for a few weeks already. Time goes by SLOWLY and we are enjoying it so much. Jack is actually SLEEPING!!! Hip hip horray.
Ok thats all for now.
Nancy and Jack
