SATURDAY, JULY 5TH, NEW YORK CITY BABY

My friend Sue Keown and I took the train to New York City and met up with Susan Garry to see the broadway show "ONCE" which won the "Best Musical" Tony.

We ate a snack at a little cafe across the street from Grand Central Station.

Then because of lack of time, we took a taxi to Broadway.  Here are pictures I took from the cab.  It was a beautiful clear day!

After we got out of the cab, we walked a bit (because the traffic was bad and we just sat there) and took pictures at Times Square.

The "Naked Cowboy".  Once I heard a lady say (in a southern drawl) "Why he ain't nekkid, he's got on tighty whities"

This is the theatre we saw "ONCE"  Click here to read what the play was about.

We went to a restaurant which used to be a church.  I had to tilt way back in my chair to get these pics, but well worth it!!  This was the ceiling!

Across the street from the restaurant was this beautiful theatre where The Phantom of the Opera was playing.  I just love these old buildings.

Then we headed back to Grand Central Station but made a stop at Bryant Park.

I tried to get pictures of the street names, I think this says FIFTH AVENUE.

And this one is 42ND Street.

Well that's about it!  We had a long long day, but it was wonderful!!

FRIDAY JULY 4TH

Jack went for a walk and called me because in the midst of the dark clouds there appeared sunlight and a rainbow right over the library.  So I went outside and took pictures.

Then I walked back to our house and took these pictures of the creek that goes under the bridge walkway.

JULY 3RD, 2014

Been reading...........nice!  Jack has Math Lab tonight, so it's me and the dog.  And the rain, and the thunder AND lightening!  She is so scared, so I closed the window so she couldn't see outside, turned on the TV and got it loud.  She is laying on my feet!  Mom's trying her best to keep the girl from being scared.

Jack takes her for lots of long walks and runs during the day and they both come back exhausted, hot and sweaty!!  We are having a great time here!

JULY 2ND, 2014

Well we've been settling in our new digs and enjoying the big screen TV's as well as the A/C.

Last night Sue and I went to see the move "The Grand Budapest Hotel."  Sue loved it, I did not!  But at least with Sue I experience movies I would not normally see.

After dinner we met up with Susan Eidlitz Garry at Lucky Thai Restaurant.   Mmmmm it was sooooo good!!  We had a blast laughing, eating and talking.

We walked down to our car and took this picture!

JULY 1ST, 2014

Today I took my first Yoga class.  I cannot get onto the mat because of my knees, but I was able to do most of the workout between the mat and a chair.  Here is my vision of what I will look like:

Well, THAT didn't happen, but this did:

I felt really good afterwards and will be going back.  Thanks to the ladies for their support!!

SATURDAY, JUNE 28, 2014

Well it's been a great few days here at Taft so far!  Getting to see friends that we have made over the last 8 years.  Sue Keown and I have decided to make a change in our life styles and have been looking to take a Zumba Class and a Yoga class.  We found out one of the teachers is a certified yoga instructor and has volunteered to teach a couple classes a week.  Besides, our apt is a little ways away from the dorm and cafeteria that we have a little walk everytime we head out towards the school.  I can feel it gently pulling my muscles and it feels kinda good!  Tonight Jack and I drove up to the track and as he and Shadow ran all over, I walked the inside track.  After a bit, my knees were hurting so I got onto the grass and it felt much better!  Yay me!  I'm thinking tomorrow Sue will join us as well.  She is much more "gun ho" than me!  We have been doing well on our choices of food too!

Here is a picture of our little house that we are staying at.  So beautiful!
